Lawrence Winkler

Most likely born in New Jersey, almost nothing is known about Lawrence's early life. His father is believed to be Hans Jacob Winkler, but was definitely one of the 3 Winkler brothers who arrived in Philidelphia in 1753 on the ship Neptune (from locations unknown). He married in North Carolina and migrated to West Virginia in 1806 before he finally settled down in Wayne County, Ohio in 1814, becoming a pioneer of Ohio and one of the earliest settlers and founders of Green Township, which wouldn't be formed until 1817. Lawrence and wife Frances had a total of 9 kids and spent the rest of his life in Wayne County, passing away at the age of 77.

Thomas D. Warner

Thomas D Warner was born on 19 Jun 18141 in Sunbury, Northumberland, Pennsylvania.2 Currently his parents and siblings are unknown even though there were multiple Warner families from Northumberland County (Birth date was obtained by counting backwards using information provided by the headstone at his gravesite).

Barbara Ann Alleman

Jacob D. Winkler

Jacob D. Winkler was born on 06 May 18151 in what was then known as East Union, Wayne, Ohio to parents Lawrence and Fannie Winkler.2 Jacob has the distinction of being the first Winkler born in the area now known as Green Township, but it wouldn’t officially be organized as such until 5 Feb 1817.

Magdalena Krenger

Magdalena "Mattie" Krenger was born on 24 Jun 1853 in Thurnen, Bern, Switzerland to parents Albert Krenger and Barbara Kunzi. Mattie married Johannes Beyeler in 1876 in Switzerland. Supposedly, John left for America ahead of Mattie in 1882 and she followed a year later. The couple changed their last name to Beieler and settled on farmland in Wooster, Ohio. The couple naturalized in 1888 and retired in the nearby village of Smithville where Mattie died in 1924 at the age of 71.
